SME Award Finalists - Community Business of the Year Award

We are thrilled to share that on December 6th Sonder Home Care was a finalist – and runner-up – for Community Business of the Year at the 2024 SME Awards, held at the iconic Wembley Stadium. It was an extraordinary night filled with glamour, celebration, and laughs as we gathered with our office staff and some of our incredible carers, all dressed to the nines for this black-tie event.

Being nominated for this award was an honour in itself. At Sonder, we’re more than just a home care provider – we are deeply committed to supporting and enriching our local community. Our nomination was based on our continuous efforts to give back and positively impact the lives of those around us. Whether through charitable initiatives or hosting community events, we’re dedicated to improving the well-being of our elderly and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for all.

A highlight of our community efforts was in October, when our owner, Damien, cycled across Mallorca to raise funds for the local Purple Angels Dementia Support Group. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Damien raised over £1,500, which will go a long way in helping this incredible organisation support families affected by dementia.

In addition to fundraising, we regularly host events for the elderly in our local area, open to everyone, aimed at supporting mental and physical well-being. Recently, we have hosted dementia-friendly cinema trips, mobility-friendly chair yoga and musical instrument circles. These events provide opportunities for connection, learning, and fun, helping to combat elderly isolation and ensure our community members are cared for both physically and emotionally.

While we didn’t take home the trophy this time, the recognition we received at the SME Awards was a tremendous achievement for our team. It was an incredible experience and a reminder that our work is being seen and appreciated by others. We’re more motivated than ever to continue our mission of delivering compassionate care and making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
