Cycle for a Cause: Damien’s Journey in Mallorca for Dementia
From October 21st to 28th 2024, our owner, Damien, embarked on an inspiring journey across the beautiful island of Mallorca to raise funds for the Spelthorne Purple Angels Dementia Support. This incredible cycle was a testament to his unwavering dedication to charitable causes and his passion for cycling.
Cycle History
Damien's commitment to fundraising is not a new endeavor; it has deep roots in his personal experiences and compassion for others. Back in 2015, he took on the challenge of cycling from the northern tip of Ireland, Malin Head, to the southern point, Mizen Head, all in support of Marie Curie Charity. The following year, he tackled the iconic London to Paris route for the Alzheimer’s Society. In 2017, he returned to Ireland, yet again cycling for Marie Curie, demonstrating his enduring commitment to causes close to his heart.
2024…
After a seven-year hiatus, Damien felt the call to action once more after witnessing firsthand the positive impact the Purple Angels have had on a friend facing the challenges of dementia. Inspired by their work, he decided to lace up his cycling shoes and hit the road again, this time for a cause that resonates deeply with him and many in our community.
Over the week, Damien cycled an impressive 220 miles—far surpassing his initial goal of 200 miles! Initially, he aimed to raise £500, but thanks to the incredible support from friends, family, and our community, he has already raised £1.2K and counting!
Vlogs on Instagram and Facebook
Throughout his journey, Damien filmed daily vlogs, sharing his experiences and insights, which you can catch on our Instagram and Facebook pages. Each video captures the challenges of his rides, and the importance of supporting those affected by dementia.
With each mile he pedalled, Damien not only pushed his physical limits but also championed the fight against dementia. His efforts remind us all of the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together for a common cause.
